Our Story
OOREQ was founded by Mosses Akizian, an Armenian tech entrepreneur with a passion for community building and digital innovation. Drawing from years of experience in product development and startups, Mosses saw an opportunity to create something meaningful—a space where Armenians and supporters could discover, connect, and grow together.
Why “OOREQ”?
The name comes from the Armenian word “ուռեք” (ooreq)—which means “Where are you?” in the Western Armenian dialect spoken by Mosses. In Eastern Armenian, the phrase is written as “որտե՞ղ ես” (vortegh yes), but the meaning remains the same—a friendly call to connect and find each other. It’s a question that sparks connection, a call to unite, and a reminder that no matter where we are in the world, our roots keep us connected.
